Scorchers @ CYGFL Tournament

On a wondefully sunny sunday afternoon in Poppleton saw 2 scorchers girls teams make the now annual trip across to the CYGFL tournament.
Both teams acquitted themselves superbly and both narrowly missed out on semi final places.
Hopefully all the girls went home with smiles on their faces after a full afternoon of football.
The U11 squad was made up of our development squad and our U11 players from our U12 squad and all the team played their part and only lost out by the tiniest of margins.

Well played to all the girls.

U12s Mascots @ HTLFC

The U12s strode out with Harrogate Town Ladies in front of a record 157 spectators at the CNG today and then sat back and watched a brilliant game of football between 2 very good teams.
York RI really tested the Town Ladies today and produce a couple of worldy goals but Town's strength in their squad showed as they sneaked the game by 5 goals to 4.

Thankyou to Jon and Ged Maloney and all at Town for making the girls feel very welcome. Hopefully the girls will become regular supporters and eventually players in turn. #futuretownies

U12s Up For The Cup

This saturday morning saw the U12s embark on their divisions cup at a sunny Scotton Cricket Club.

Things weren't going too well even before kick off with 3 players being struck down with the dreaded lurgy (hope you all get well soon) and the Scorchers girls were drawn against high flying Stamford Bridge GJFC!

So the girls were without their regular keeper, had no substitutes and were playing an undefeated team.
As ever though these girls stepped up and accepted the challenge with smiles on their faces.

Scotton kicked off the first half and were playing their usual pass and move and entertaining the crowd but Stamford showed why they are top of the league with some good football of their own and they forged into a 3 nil lead by half time which might have been a few more if it hadn't of been for 'Abbey the Cat' in goal!!
The scorchers created a couple of chances through girl of the game Ella R with her dazzling skills and wing play but didn't manage to convert any.

In the second half the girls experimented with a new team formation which they looked quite comfortable with. Stamford scored a couple more to win the game quite comfortably 5 nil but Coach Andy was more than happy with his team as they never gave up and they all gave everything they could and were not afraid to try out their tricks and passing skills.
Most pleasing for Andy was the girls togetherness and teamwork. They really are a great bunch and it shows in their smiles and laughter as they play.

Thanks must go to Stamford and their coach for a good game played in a great spirit and a lovely atmosphere.
Good luck to them for the rest of the cup.

Well played everyone and hope to see as many of you as possible tommorrow when we cheer on the Harrogate Town Ladies.

Development Squad Lead out Harrogate Ladies FC

Last sunday saw our girls development team lead out the Harrogate Town Ladies team at the CNG stadium.
The ladies made all the girls feel very welcome and as you can see from the pics there was smiles a plenty.
The girls were rather good lucky charms as HTLFC ran out 23 (or 24!) nil winners.

Thankyou to all involved with Harrogate Town for making the girls feel very welcome and this coming sunday sees our U12 squad leading out the ladies in what should be a tighter match.

Fingers crossed the Scorchers bring the good luck again and we hope to see as many of you there as possible to cheer on the Town Ladies.

5th Harrogate JGFL Gala at Harrogate Town FC

On another busy weekend for the club our girls development squad turned out 2 teams in the Harrogate JGFL 5th gala at Harrogate Town FC on what turned out to be a much better morning weather wise than was expected.

Again it was another well attended gala proving that there is a huge appetite for girls football in the Harrogate and District area and the gala's are a great way for girls to get involved for the first time in a none pressurised enviroment.

It is a fantastic way of growing the girls game with players just being able to turn up and get a game with any team short of players as opposed to teams having to cancel 'matches' due to not having full squads on the set dates.

These galas have been a huge success and a massive thanks must go to Mike Collier who has spent so much time organising and campaigning clubs to get involved and I think all who have attended are hugely grateful to him for all his hard work.
Also thanks must go to Ged Maloney at Harrogate Town for help in working along side Mike to make sure the girls get a fanatstic venue and surface for the girls to play football.

U12s Stamford Bridge 1 v Scorchers 2......at one point in the game!!! FT 7v2

What an amazing performance from the U12s for their final game of 2016. The girls arrived at Stamford Bridge in thick fog but this lifted in time for kick off to allow the girls from both teams to really light up the field with a fantastic display of football.

Stamford Bridge undefeated in the league this season started strongly and put Jess to the test in goal but she maintained her high standards in goal and saved everything that came her way but eventually a screamer managed to get past her to allow the 'Bridge' to take the league.

Deja vu though, these girls did not get their heads down and led by their brilliant captain Therese they took the game to the Bridge and a brilliant left footed cross from her was finished sensationally first time by super striker Immy.....this brought the biggest smile of the season from the coach as this is exactly what the girls had been working on in training.

It did not stop there though as super skipper then finished off some great dribbling to put the scorchers in dreamland and 2-1 to the scorchers and as promised by the coach this is where the match report ends!!!!.................

.......the game did carry on though and what a game it was with brilliant play from both teams and some superb long shooting from the Bridge girls.

Stamford showed why they are undefeated and came back with some great attacking play and manged to break down the scorchers dogged defending and go into half time ahead. So Stamford just ahead at half time 3 goals to 2.

The scorchers came out at half time after much praise at half time from their coach and told to keep doing the same as the first half and they showed their flair going forward and created plenty of chances but unfortunately didn't convert any in the second half and Stamford scored a couple of screamers that not even Jess could have kept out. All the scorchers girls played outstanding and showed how much they have improved over the season.
Alas they couldn't quite match Stamford and lost out 7 goals to 2 but the scoreline could have been oh so different but as we have said before that's football for you!

Well played to all the girls from both teams, keep playing your football with a smile and keep entertaining the crowds girls, this was a fanatastic game of football to watch today.

Hope everyone has a Happy Christmas and New Year and we shall see the Scorchers girls on the 7th January for a team photo shoot and the start of a 6 week run of games!!! (We shall get some training in after the season's fixtures are done in february! ; ) )
