Result Hurts As U13's Suffer Defeat To Ilkley

Scorchers conceded an early goal which left them chasing the game from the first few minutes. The result was hard for everyone to take especially as Scorchers had played a number of very close games against Ilkley in the past. The girls gave everything, from great heroics in goal from Daisy to battling performances in defence from Rebecca and Emily, some good passing and tackling from Imogen Melissa and Hayley to attacking play from Abbie, Shannon and Kayleigh. It was not to be Scorchers day when with the keeper well and truly beaten Emily's powerful shot hit the post and rebounded straight to the keeper or when the Ilkley keeper managed to scramble across and save a goal bound deflected shot. The teams passing was better and work rate as usual couldnt be faulted. Imogen recieved player of the day giving everything in midfield and tackling back effectively. Coach Mike C said that whilst the girls were all disappointed the good thing about football is there is always the next game, so we will roll our sleeves up and look forward to Tockwith away on Saturday. The squad for Nomads on the 6th October would be issued shortly.
