Harrogate and District Under 11 Girls Junior Football League
Knaresborough Celtic 2
Scotton Scorchers 9
In freezing conditions Scorchers blew away Knaresborough Celtic with four goals from Georgia, three from Mollie and one apiece from Rebecca S and Molly W.
The match saw the glorious return of Molly W who played her usual powerful midfield role and scored a great goal.Molly made way for Emma in the second half and she played really well and was part of some of Scotton's best passing moves.
Making her league debut in defence was Rhia who impressed all by an intelligent and calm defensive display. Rhia was replaced by Sine in the second half and Sine showed some fine defensive touches and supported Ellie very well.
Scotton were impressively led by team captain Georgia who repeatedly cut through the Celtic defence and was unlucky not to score more than her four goals. Linking up well with Georgia on the left was Mollie who continued her fine goal scoring form with three goals in a hardworking display. Both Rebeccas played decent attacking football on the right and caused problems for the Celtic defence.
Back in defence Ellie played superbly well and helped the new defence settle in and gain in confidence. Time and again she broke up Celtic attacks and then distributed the ball well to set up counterattacks. Lastly, Jade had a good game in goal even though she was gradually freezing to death by the end!
This was great win on a difficult pitch and in freezing conditions against a motivated Celtic side. Both Richard and John were really impressed- well done Girls!
Player of the Match: Ellie for a mature and skillful defensive display.
