Scorchers took on Thirsk Falcons in this friendly match, with an ideal opportunity to play an U12 team (which is the age of two thirds of our squad). The game was one of the most exciting scorchers games this season with so many chances coming Scorchers way.
Melissa selected as a striker alongside Abbie created chance after chance, they hit the woodwork twice had several saved and put shots wide and over. Scorchers probably had more chances this game than most of the season, but just couldnt find the net!! Thirsk hit Scorchers on the break and went in 2 nil at half time.
In the second half the possession was more even and Thirsk went further ahead before Emily came back on and lifted the team putting the Falcons on to the back foot, just when it seemed as if it wasnt to be Scorchers day the goal finally came with Imogen beating the keeper at close range scoring her third goal in her third consecutive game.
Kayleigh, Rebecca, and Shannon were also unlucky to score, Philippa was again solid in defence along side first Rebecca then Hanna and Hayley who read the game well, intercepting Falcons attacks. Daisy had a quieter game than usual!! but distribution was again improved. On another day Scorchers could have scored 6 or more, so keep going girls the goals and wins will come!!!!!!
