Well they finally did it,knaresborough finally beat the scorchers! In an end of season game with the result not effecting any positions in the league a slightly under strength scorchers side got beat by a massively improved Knaresborough side.
In the first half playing down the slope scorchers hit everything but the back of the net!! Bar, post,goalkeeper you name it the girls hit it!Even without our normal defence the 'new' defensive pair of emma and rebecca s did very well in controlling a lively celtic attack but on the one occassion against the run of play celtic managed to slip through and sneak a goal.
So into half time 1-0 down but turning around for the second half georgia t was determined not to get beat and seemed to be all over the pitch chasing the ball and deservedly got an equaliser even though she was laid on the floor! 1-1 and the game really opened up as both teams went for the win.Unfortunately celtic hit back with 2 goals to take a 3-1 lead and that looked like game over.
Don't count on it, molly webster pushed up front due to an injury to georgia and went on an impressive run and finished off with aplomb to make the score 3-2.
This then set up the most exciting 5mins of plays as the girls lay siege to the celtic goal but couldn't quite drawlevel. So a reverse of the scoreline to when the teams met last.
All the girls were impressive and there was some great performances from girls who might not have had as much opportunity as others but showed that the whole squad have really improved this season despite what results might suggest.The whole match was played in a great spirit amongst friends and congratulations to knaresborough.(but watch out next season we'll come back stronger!!)
I'd just like to say well done to all our girls this season in the league, hope you've all enjoyed it.
