THe U. 10's finished their long campaign by travelling all the way to Selby to meet Brayton Belles. We were hoping to finish the campaign in style but were caught out by a team which just clicked on the day. We eventually lost 5 -2 and were 3-0 down at half time after a tentative performance. The second half was much improved as we got stuck in and the 2 Charlottes got to grips with the opposition centre forward. Lizzie created our first goal with a long goal kick which Ellie ran on to, controlled and then fired home. Following this some god work by Vicky meant Olivia was through on goal and the left foot finish was clinical. At 4-2 we sensed a comeback with Jess competing for everything and Molly coming on a t the back and Sophie doing well in midfield. However it was Brayton who had the final word netting a fifth.
In the friendly we quickly took charge as Molly scored the first two of her hatrick! Ian decided at this point it was all down to the coach and I can't disagree! Ellie added another, this time with her right foot and then slotted home our fourth. During this goal spree Elizabeth was outstanding at the back positioning herself to intercept and tackle ably assisted by Amelia. In the 2nd half Brayton bought on their big guns and pulled back to 4-2. Sophie showed great energy and leadership to drive us forward with help from Lizzie in midfield. We ended up with 3 at the back protecting our lead before Molly rounded off her 3rd goal and Charlote Mc made her trademark dash forward to seal a fine win.
We decided we all deserved to be player of the game and celebrated with chocolate!
A really good season then in which the girls have made vast improvements and kept me sane.
We now have a month of training aimed at improving individual skills for next season so see you all at the cricket club on Saturday at 9.45
