Railway 1 V SCORCHERS 2 U13 Result

As the under 12's the under 13's managed to play their game against Harrogate Railway GJFC at the third time of asking today. The game was played in the 7 a side format on a bobbly pitch but I think everybody was just happy to be finally playing a game of football again! Railway kicked off playing down the slope and tried to play some great passing moves but were thwarted time and again by a solid pairing of Ellie and Hannah at the back ably supported by Becky C in goal(who apparently had a thoroughly boring first half!!)Both defenders looked very comfortable on the ball and were passing the ball between themselves and distributing the ball to the midfield very well. The midfield trio of Jayde,Molly and CAPTAIN Ryan were also flying today with Jayde and Georgie getting past their markers and sending in some great crosses. This combined with Molly's tackling and running with the ball put the railway girls under lots of pressure. As ever GT led the line up front superbly and had the game been played at 9 aside I'm sure would have had a lot more goals today.
As it happens Georgia (GT) opened the scoring with a lovely strike in the bottom corner of the net and this was surprisingly the only goal of the first half.
The replacements of Rebecca S,Emma and Riah all played their part in the game when they came on.Stocky with her usual mazy running with the ball and emma with her no nonsense tackling and riah with some great interceptions and good lay offs.
In the second half attacking down the slope the girls continued where they left off and put their opponents goal under a lot of pressure and were rewarded with another goal from GT (13 for the season)and I thought that might have opened the floodgates but quite the opposite.
Railway girls started to exploit the sloppy marking from the scorchers and caught the midfield not getting back to help their defence and went on the attack themselves and managed a well deserved goal themselves making the score 2-1 to the scorchers.
The scorchers replied with some great strikes from Molly,GT and a lovely strike from Georgie (which as she mentioned would have gone in on a full size goal!)but the game finished 2-1 JOB DONE.
So to sum it up the girls passing and attacking is fine but a little more work on the whole teams defensive work required. So lets see you all next saturday morning and be prepared for some hard work!
Well done girls, this season is still in your hands keep it going and who knows?

GO SCORCHERS!
