U12s SCORCHERS 0 v 2 Stamford Bridge

A lovely bright morning welcomed the start of a new season for the U12s and they hosted Stamford Bridge at Percy Fields.

What a game of football the spectators were treated to today. 2 very strong good passing teams played some great football. Scotton started really well but Stamford grew into the game and got stronger and really tested the Scorchers defence but the girls remained strong and held out till half time.

The second half saw much of the same as the first half with stamford edging the game and Scotton getting a counter attack in or two. Some ferocious shooting from Stamford was kept out from Scottton's goalkeeper who had an amazing game and quite rightly received Girl of the Game.

Both coaches were willing shots to go in but girls were defending resolutely from both teams but with 5 mins to go stamford squeezed a goal and then Scotton had to gamble and commit players forward to try and get the equalizer but unfortunately this created gaps at the back which Stamford exploited and they picked up a second goal to win the game by 2 goals to nil.

So not a bad start to the season from the Scorchers, some great football played and new players welcomed into the team. The majority of this squad are playing up a year lets not forget so they are doing very well and it looks really positive for the rest of the season.

Thankyou to Stamford for a great game of football played in a great spirit and lets hope this is how the rest of the season can carry on, we look forward to playing at your place.

Well played all the girls, great start, keep those smiles and belief and you will only get better.

                                                     GO SCORCHERS!
