Scorchers triumphant after tough Trojan clash

Harrogate and District Girl's Under 11 Junior Football League
Scotton Scorchers Under 11's 3
Burley Trojans 0
A well organised and skillful Burley side gave Scorchers a difficult game at the Cricket Ground this morning. With Josie filling the injured Molly's midfield position Scorchers were always under pressure from a good Trojan side.
In the first half both teams had occasional chances but decent defending kept the score level for the first 10 minutes. However, captain Georgia opened the scoring with a strong shot to ease Scotton nerves. Within five minutes Scotton went two ahead when Mollie took advantage of poor defending in the box and slotted home a neat finish to earn her first league goal of the campaign.
In the second half Burley went very close several times but great defending from Hannah and Ellie kept them at bay. Jayde also had to make a couple of goal saving clearances to keep the Scotton lead intact. Mollie made way for Rebecca C midway through the half and again this enthusiastic player contributed well and kept the team going forward. Towards the end Rebecca S went on a powerful run down the right and accurately passed the ball in to Josie to thump home a third- a quality goal. Scotton then held on to win a tight match which was played with a great spirit by both sides.
Well done Scorchers!
Player of the Match: Mollie M for a vital goal and a hardworking performance.
