Harrogate and District Junior Girls Football League
Ripon City Panthers Under 11's 0
Scotton Scorchers Under 11's 1
Well done to our fabulous Under 11 girls who won the league title and have reached the Cup Final for the second consecutive season!
Our champions are all pictured above (with the exception of Rhia who was on international duty!) with coaches John and Richard and proud team sponsor Maurice Kelly of Shamrock Vets. Parents, supporters and the Club are all immensly proud of the girls' achievements in a competitive league amongst some quality teams. A huge well done again girls!
The hero of the match was Rebecca S who was stunning on the right wing and scored the Scorcher's winning goal in the first five minutes (see photo above). Rebecca stretched the Panthers defence with her relentless mazy runs. She rightly deserved Player Of The Match for the second consecutive game.
Scotton harried the Panthers when they were on the ball and ran at them with pace when in possesssion. Josie was quick and effective on the left wing,Georgia a prescence in the middle and Molly a terrier in midfield. For the first half the regular and dependable defence of Ellie and Hannah easily kept out the Panthers. Jayde had a quiet but safe time in goal. Ellie forced the Ripon keeper to pull off a brilliant flying save with long rang effort.
In the second half Panthers brought out their star player from goal and they became a more dangerous team. Mollie replaced Josie on the left and put some good tackles in on the big Panther striker. At one point a Panther's goal was certain but for a wonderful last ditch tackle by Hannah - this tackle in the end proved as important as Rebecca's goal. Scotton threatened the Panthers' goal on several occasions but just could not get the vital second goal to ease everyone's nerves! When the whistle came relief swept over he team and supporters- back to back league titles had been won.
In the friendly that followed Sine, Emma, Alex and Rebecca C played really well to secure a goalless draw. Again thankyou to the girls who were unable to play in the League match but provided lots of noisy support. During the course of this season all of the girls in the team have each made a valuable contribution to the winning of the league.
Well done Scorchers!!!!!!!!!!!
