U.10's get point in the mud!

The girls overcame the fearful weather last Saturday and a physical oppositionto gain a 1-1 draw with ulford and were unlucky not to win. Starting brightly we passed and ran well with the ball and soon had Fulford under pressure with Saffy and Vicky both hitting the post. Eventually we got the break we deserved and Ella fire us into the lead just before the break. In the 2nd half we found it tough going as we battled up the slope and Fulford threw everything at us. Olivia and Charlotte never faltered and Jess ran miles covering the ground in midfield. Lizzie made 2 vital saves before a rebound fell to an attacker and Fulford scored an equaliser. Both teams pressed for victory and subs Charlotte M and Georgie were pressed into action, both giving a very good account of themselves. As time ran out Victoria sealed her player of the match award by poppinfg up everywhere and clearing off the line twice. Ella and Saffy both went close but the honours were shared.
In the friendly the girls soon warmed to their task despite the worsening weather. Saffy and Elizabeth agreed to share the goalkeeping duties and Sophie gave a captains performance in midfield and was unlucky not to score going close twice. Rose had an awesome game as did Charlotte M and Elizabeth. Amelia applied herself really well till the cold got the better of her. In the second half the girls again came close to taking the lead, but the more physical Fulford team eventually managed 2 late goals to win the game.
I have to say how impressed I was with the resiliance and determination of all our girls and their parents.
Finally, we said a sad farewell to Ella who joins up with the North Yorkshire squad in the new year. She has been a stalwart of the team and is our leading goalscorer. We will miss her skills and that amazing left foot but wish her all the best and are confident she will do very well. We hope she wil pop back and say hello now and again, all the very best Ella.
There is no training this saturday but those that want to can join the U11's for a fun session 9.45 on Saturday.
We'll be back training on Jan 3rd, have a super Christmas see you in the New Year!
