U11 Girls Suffer Defeat in the Wind and Rain

The U11 Girls went down 6-0 in the strong winds and driving rain that made the game extremely tough. Wetherby were probably the best team that we have seen at home this season and played some fantastic passing and creative play in the first half when they were playing into the wind. The Scorchers actually played some of their best football of the season with some great moves, finding space and running off the ball but the Wetherby girls were quite simply too good for us on the day and they went in at half time 2-0 up, both goals resulting from quick breaks when Scotton were attacking and our defense was left exposed.

The second half was a real battle as we had the wind rain in our faces and the result was that Wetherby scored four more quite early in the half. As the game wore on we started to play football again and were unlucky not to get on the score sheet.

Not a very pleasant day but special mention goes to Steph who probably had her best performance of the season, tackling and covering the whole pitch to win the player of the match award.

We are away at Wetherby next week, meet at 10am for a 10.30 kick-off. Lets try and reverse this result by playing like we played in the friendly where we won 1-0!
