It was last game of the season and the girls turned out for this 9 aside match. For most of the first half the score was nil nil and the Scorchers with Emily in the heart of defence put in a commanding performance. Daisy in goal pulled off a number of fine saves but in the end Ilkley broke through to take the lead. Scorchers chances were limited but Shannon, Imogen and Olivia put together some great passing moves linking well with the attack of Rosie and Kayleigh. At half time the score was two goals to nil, and it was time to either stick to a defensive formation or go for it and try and get back in the game. Changes were made with Daisy going to left back, Rebecca to right back and Philippa in goal. Emily moved on the left wing and started causing problems for the Ilkley right back, however our attacking formation left us weaker in defence and an early couple of goals effectively finished Scorchers chances of coming back. However the girls didnt give in and Rosie hit the post with the ball coming back out for Imogen to smash home a goal her hard work deserved. The team ran out of steam playning their third game in six days, rosie going in goal suffering from a previous knock, Rebecca going down with cramp and of course Kayleigh coming back to fitness after a long injury.
The girls have been brilliant all season and this score ensured that it's official they improved again on last season with a better goal difference (this is fantastic considering the size of the goals this year) Well done girls!!!!!!
