The U 11 girls travelled to Stamford Bridge hopeful of another display like last week. Unfortunately we met a Stamford Bridge team in great form and started slowly ourselves and were soon 3 -0 down. We could only get better and fortunately we did, both Charlottes sorted out who was marking who and we managed to hold out til half time. Some stern words from the coach had the desired effect and we played with more discipline pushing forward and creating some pressure. Ellie hit the post and the Stamford keeper made fine saves from vicky and Georgie. Saffy was excelent in goal and thanks to her for doing that unenvialble job so well. Second half Jess was a hive of industry pushing up and tracking back while Charlotte McGurk won the player of the match as she prevented surely the leagues best player adding to her goal tally. Sadly Stamford bridge did score twice more late on to make it a 5-0 defeatwhich was actually a closer contest than that suggests!
In the friendly the girls proved they can play a bit going down 2-1 with a fine goal scored by Ellie, while Amelia was a revelation in goal!
To remedy our slow starts we will meet at 9.45 at the cricket club next week for our home match against Fulford!
