The U 11 girls played their first league game on Saturday and were unlucky to lose 2-1 to last years runaway champions and cup winners.
We started slowly and were soon under pressure but Lizzie in goal and the 2 Charlottes in defence held firm and we held out while hitting them on the break.
We turned round 1-0 down at half time and mounted some pressure of our own and had a lot of corners and form one of these Saffy scored direct!
The game was then an epic contest with chances at both ends, Georgie, Ellie and Vicky all going close for us, while Jess popped up everywhere to thwart the York Players.
With only 2 minutes to go though one of the York players managed to squeeze a shot home from a narrow angle to deny us the draw we deserved.
Well done to all the girls, a real squad effort with Amelia coming off the bench to good effect.
Saffy was player of the match for her non stop running and that brilliant goal.
Next week we travel to Stamford Bridge, meet at 9.15 at the Village Hall
Well done girls, a really positive start!
