The U12's today played Silsden at home and secured a 9-0 win. This was a comfortable win in the end but at 0-0 after 20 minutes it looked like being anything other than a comfortable day. After the fantastic performance last week the Scorchers looked slow and really were not playing well as a team. Silsden on the other hand were much improved from the last time we played them and the Scorchers found themselves struggling to break them down.
Jes, who was captain for the day, played some great balls from midfield and at one point showed some great skill to retain the ball with 4 Silsden players round her, but the Scorchers just could not get past the excellent Silsden goalkeeper.
The breakthrough finally arrived with 5 mins to half time when Audrey kept her head and finished from close range. Chloe quickly followed this up with a second just before half time to finish with a much improved performance.
In the second half Jes replaced Maddie in goal and although there were few chances for Silsden in the second half Jes played with confidence and cleared anything that came close to her goal
At the other end Scotton really started to play some reasonable football with Maddie finding the net twice, as did Ella (one curled into the top corner from 20 yards out), Emily scored one (after creating several chances which were not converted previously!) and Chloe completed her hat-trick.
Elsewhere, Steph, Molly and Georgina all played in defence and midfield throughout the game with Molly especially enjoying the rough and tumble of that position. Sam did well in both attack and midfield and played some good weighted passes when under pressure. Lowenna sat out the first half but when she came on in the second half she defended intelligently and covered her position extremely well.
Jes was awarded player of the match for her show of skill and her performance in goal when she did not really want to play in that position.
So in the end a good 9-0 win but not really the best performance of the season. Thanks go to Silsden who again played their hearts out and created some great chances. They are much improved from the last time we played them (when they had only been together for a few weeks) and if they keep on improving and playing in such a great spirit then I am sure that we will have some great games against them next season.
