Fabulous fun in the sun as the Scorchers took to the field for their first ever game, and didnt they play well!!!
Grace was outstanding in goal with great distribution to her team and some fantastic saves too. In defence we started with Izzy and Emma who marked up well and tackled bravely. In midfield we had Cora, Alice B and Ellie, who worked hard, helped the defence and also supported the attack. Cora getting forward and having several shots at goal that were only kept out by some great goalkeeping. In attack we had Ella and Alice who both had some good runs at goal and a shot or two testing the keeper.
In the second half we made some changes to let the girls try different positions so Alice B went in goal and did really well in particular pulling off one great save.
Grace defended with great determination with Emma working well along side her, Izzy pushed in to midfield and went on one or two great runs, Ellie did the same tackling girls twice the size of her! Cora went in to attack and again gave a fantastic performance almost scoring. Ella continued up front and covered the whole pitch in an energetic performance.
We normally have a girl of the game but today the whole team got the award for a great all round performance against a more experienced team.
We must also remember to thank Carol and Rebecca who were also managing their first game so well done and thanks to Carol who has been the mainstay of the development team coaching throughout the season.
Thanks to Fulford who gave us a player or two as we tired and allowed us to be flexible with one or two rules to enable everyone to get the most from the game.
Training on Saturday is at Percy Field (for a change) at the later time of 10.15am see you all there.
