The girls have made their FOURTH successive Final!!
What a match.... what a result!
Although the result shows 4, it was a match with so many near misses against a very gallant Leeds Amazones side! !
The pitch was in good condition and this helped the Scorchers' passing game.
In the first half the defensive trio of Ellie C,Hannah K and Emma C, handled the few Amazonian attacks very well and were strong and confident at the back, with Jayde in goal hardly having anything to do.
A number of superb runs from Molly W in midfield, while Riah A played that 'holding role', really got our team going! After the first few minutes, we could have been 2 up! However, the Amas seemed to be coping well in defence and put some great moves together!
As ever the two wingers Georgie R and Becky S,(captain today), inspired the team to keep pressing a risidulant Amas defence, both of them flying down both sides of the pitch supplying crosses to the waiting Georgia T.
The girls piled on the pressure, and through lots of effort and shots, the breakthrough came. After great play, Georgia T was the first to score with a lovely strike.
A number of more great moves, starting from the wings saw Georgie R fire a whizzing shot just wide! Determination showed and eventually Georgie R got her reward (with help from a deflection) - 2 nil!
But arguably one of the finest moves of not just the match but the season!
Ever reliable and strong Hannah K, who was unstoppable from the right back position, started one of her great runs down the right wing. Linking well with Georgie R, the two of them broke through the Amas defence - then a fantastic pass - there was Georgie T waiting to pounce with a 'poachers goal' - 3 nil!
In the second half, as the heavens opened with aheavy downpour, all of the girls were undetered and really started to enjoy themselves and relax that bit more. After a couple of changes, Maddy A & Jess P once again showed their ability to step up a level and played their parts very well (a big thank you girls!!!). Jess on the left made a number of fine passes, Maddy holding the midfield well allowing Molly W to go on one of her many attacking runs - which nearly turned into a goal with a fine blistering strike.
Likewise for Hannah K, another great run finishing with a superb strike - just wide! The Amas goalkeeper made a number of fine saves, and credit to the Amas for not letting their heads drop! They defended incredibly well and although we created more chances, with some great passing moves, the next goal just didn't seem it was coming!
Even a blistering strike from Ellie C ffrom the edge of the Amas box came very close!
However, some lovely touches from Georgia and Jayde helped the breakthrough - the captain, Becky S with a fine strike - 4 nil!
The game finished 4-0 to the Scorchers, but special praise must be given to the Amazones girls who played their part in a great game of football and hope they keep their heads up and keep going - see you next season girls!
WELL DONE to both sides and a special thanks to Mike C for being the Man in the Middle!!!
Player of the match this week went to Georgie R - who showed some great determination and skills and eventually got her reward with a goal!
The team as a whole played some fantastic passing and attacking football -Keep it going and very well done!!!
