Tigers First Steps!!!

The U11 Tigers got off to a great start on Saturday, playing their first match of the season, and what a game too!!!
We have to confess that Rebecca and i were so wrapped up in the game that we cant agree to the sequence of events!!! Any way, suffice to say the whole team can be extremely proud of their performance in both games. The Tigers had the best of the early exchanges and it wasnt long before Ella on the left wing was causing Cayton real problems, two shots in the side netting, one wide of the right post and a great cross that Alice couldnt quite stab home. When we did need to defend Olivia our captain for the match and Charlotte at right back covered everything winning the ball, with self assured tackles and great distribution. Amelia in goal had an early save to make and looked comfortable in goal with the best distribution i have seen in an U11 team. Then after further pressure from the Tigers, Cayton broke away and scored!!! Half time!!The girls quickly rallied and our midfield really began to tick with some brilliant passing putting Ebony through to calmly slot home beating the keeper on her left. Within minutes we had a second, again Ebony, this time with a maisy run round defenders to place the ball past the keeper. With Amber on the right tracking back she picked up the ball and completely fooled the player in front of her pasing the ball to Ebony to shoot only for the keeper to pull off a fine save. Emma came on in the second half and added some steel to midfield and although we battled hard to keep the ball out Cayton found the equalizer. Now with only minutes left the girls put together the best move of the game, Emma won the ball passed it to her left, Ella went on a great run and crossed the ball with pace, Ebony controlled took a couple of steps and rifled the winner in to the net. What a rollercoaster of a game!!! Ella and Ebony got joint girls of the game, but it really was a whole team effort.

For the second game we moved things around, Charlotte went in goal and looked the part, making some good saves, in defence we had debutante Charlotte and Olivia along side showing her the ropes, Charlotte played with real couarge in her first game and got some tackles in too. Midfield was now Amelia, and Alice with Georgia and Emma in attack. The girls passed the ball well kept a clean sheet and had a penalty turned down. The game finishing in a scoreless draw.

Thanks to everyone at Cayton Corinthians including the young man who refereed the second game and all the parents for transport and support.,
