U13's win away at Silsden

The U13's kept their 100% record in 2011 in tact with a comprehensive 8-1 win over Silsden on a cold and very soggy pitch.

The Scorchers started with Sam in goal, Lowenna and Honor in defence, Grace and Jes in midfield and Emily playing alongside Chloe up front. The Scorchers were quickly on the front foot with attacks coming from Chloe, Emily and Grace but the Silsden 'keeper was in fine form and pulled off some outstanding saves, diving in at Emily's feet and tipping a shot round the post.

The first goal came from a strike from 15 yds which dipped over the keeper but under the bar to give Emily and the Scorchers their first goal. The second quickly followed, again from Emily and Chloe then added a third to give the score a comfortable look. Silsden however did not let their heads drop and they put our defense under some pressure but Lowenna and Honor were solid and Sam made some great stops on the few occasions that Silsden broke through.

Georgina replaced Lowenna and Molly came on for Jes and both looked very solid at the back and Honor started to create problems for Silsden in midfield with some strong tackling and some great through balls.

In the second half Silsden caught Scotton napping and they created a great chance which Honor, in goal replacing Sam, had little chance with. The Scorchers heads could have dropped but the opposite was true with Chloe latching on to a goal kick into midfield, controlling the ball, going through the defense and finishing with a great shot into the bottom corner.

4-1 become 5-1 straight from the kick off when Emily won the ball and replicated Chloe's mazy run through the defense to complete her hat-trick in style.

The Scorchers were now enjoying their football and several players switched positions, with Molly playing up front and Chloe dropping back into midfield. Grace was next to get on the score sheet latching onto a loose ball and finishing with confidence to make it 6-1.

Silsden did not let the scoreline deter them and they continued to press forward when they could, often finding 1 or 2 players extra as Scotton were caught with too many players up front. But the defense, particularly Georgina and Lowenna, were solid and secure and not only coped with the Silsden attacks but also cleared their lines quickly to turn defense into attack. On one such occasion Chloe again found herself with space and time and managed to put the ball past the advancing keeper to complete her hat-trick and make the score 7-1.

There was still time for player of the match Emily to grab her fourth and complete the 8-1 scoreline and a magnificent performance by the whole team, who played for each other, passed the ball well and defended superbly.

Credit goes to the Silsden team who competed to the end, and their 'keeper in particular who, despite the score, pulled off several superb saves. The Scotton team have found some form and shown that they can score goals from all areas of the team and this comes from the passing, passion and effort that the vocal supporters saw in abundance today.
