Wetherby v Scotton U11's Tigers

The Scorchers arrived at Wetherby after a successful run of games, but werent complacent after Wetherby gave the Scorchers a really close game earlier in the season. From the kick off Emma showed real attacking flare down the right wing putting pressure on the Wetherby defence and it was from here that our first two goals came. The first a defensive lapse left Emma free to stroke the ball home with the keeper stranded and the second an attcking run and shot that gave the keeper little chance. Defensively solid with Beth and Charlotte dealing with any attacking play and Niahm playing in an effective holding role stopping Wetherby from getting forward. Ella playing up front scored the third supported by Alice on the left who also had a shot blocked. In the second half Georgia came on in midfield delivering an action packed performance and Alice dropped in to defence freeing Beth to get forward and create several scoring chances. However Wetherby were now in the ascendancy and put plenty of pressure on our defence, with several goalmouth scrambles keeping the coaches and supporters on their toes. Whilst we had to defend Charlotte M was outstanding, time and again getting clean tackles in and clearances away. It was from one such pass that Ella was able to split the defence and score her second. Wetherby continued to press and brought a fine save from Amelia who's distribution was excellent. The Scorchers struggled to keep their shape but as the game became an end to end affair Ella struck her third goal to win the game 5.0. Thanks to the referee and Wetherby for hosting the game, which on another day could have been much closer. An all round team performance demonstrating strength in the depth of our squad, 2 goals could give you girl of the game, 3 goals certainly could but our girl of the game today was Charlotte M, who was great in defence. well done everyone.

In our second game we moved players around to try new positions including Emma in goal (well done Emma!!!) and palyed with some real flare, Wetherby kindly gave us EJ as we had players needing to go and the game was a real close affair. Amelia in her usual midfield role (when not in goal) made some great runs and was unlucky not to score, Georgia played the first half again playing with real commitment. Alice in defence kept a clean sheet Charlotte M and kept Wetherby at bay. Niahm in attack got a great goal running on to a pass from Beth and EJ scored a very similar goal the scoreline finishing 2.0 to the Scorchers. Joint girls of the game went to Georgia for a solid defensive display and Niahm for a great goal. Well done everyone
