SCORCHERS 2 v 2 Tigers U15s

Well the Tigers were more than tamed today by a splendid attacking display from the scorchers U15s.
It took the girls a few minutes to settle but once they did they definitely had the 'lions' share of the game,
Riah (reluctantly) played the whole match in goal and did very well, 'bossing' the girls around.
In defence the old trio of Becky S, Ellie and Hannah kept things very tight as usual and frustrated the very talented poppleton forwards time and again.
Across midfield we had Molly and Georgie R out on the wings and BeckyC and Ciara providing the muscle in the centre and boy did these girls do well in stifling the tigers play and also setting up wave of attack after attack on the tugers goal.
Upfront Georgia T was on her usual splendid form holding the ball up well and releasing the ball at the appropriate times, linking the play superbly.
Starting on the bench were Jayde and Emily who both came on and were absolutely superb with some important interceptions and great passing.
All round this team looks great with every girl hungry to help each other out and this season they look more like a TEAM then ever before.
In the first half the scorchers created a few long range efforts but couldn't quite finish anything off and restricted their opponents to maybe one? strike on goal, so in at half time 0-0.
Into the second half Molly must have decided she wanted to win this all by her self and went off on lung bursting run after run and even finished off a great pass from GT to strike a sweet shot into the tigers goal.....GRRRRRRRREAT! 1-0 to the scorchers.
As ever this only seemed to make the tigers more resilient and they came back at the girls with tremendous character and a great strike from a tiger produced a goal for them to equalise at 1-1 (NOT SO GRRRREAT!!!!)
Uh oh was history going to repeat itself, NO WAY! The girls dusted themselves off and went for the kill and again another immense strike from GT put the scorchers back in the lead 2-1.
The crowd errupted and were hoping for their maiden victory against the formidable tigers but right on cue as ever the tigers broke the scorchers hearts with an equalising header late in the game to finish the game 2-2.
As normal for these two extremely talented sides another great game of high quality football played in a wonderfully sporting manner.
Everybody will be looking forward to the return match.
Girl of the game again today was the ever improving Rebecca Corcoran with another superb robust allround display. (She's got everything this season!!)
WELL PLAYED EVERYBODY TO BOTH TEAMS
