U15s Scorchers 2 v 0 Ripon

An 'eggsellent' game was played this easter weekend at Percy Fields between Scorchers and Ripon.
Pictures from the match: Slideshow
Due to a busy fixture list the game was played 7 a side because lots of absences for both sides, with Scorchers having the slight edge of having the luxury of a substitute!!!
A big thankyou to parents and players alike for turning out on easter weekend and I hope you all enjoyed a very entertaining game.

Scorchers started with Jayde,Riah,Emily and Hannah controlling the defence, Ciara and Molly looking after midfield and GT causing trouble upfront with Emily T again stepping up from the U14s on the bench.Emily B was on Captain duties today and led her team well.

Ripon actually started the game stronger and were quick to push up and pressure the Scotton goal but the defensive foursome stood strong and repelled an eager Ripon side.
Riah did well standing in at centre back and was ably assisted by Emily, who had yet another strong game, and Hannah who was dependable as ever.
Jayde was fantastic in goal acting as a sweeper and making a couple of great saves, one of which she didn't know much about which brought much amusement to all!!

Ciara and Molly were working overtime getting up and down the pitch due to there being a lot more space with only 7 a side on the pitch and GT was making some great runs and getting in some useful shots but neither side could break the deadlock.

Emily T came on for Riah and went upfront and GT was asked to play in an unfamiliar role at centre back which she did superbly. Not easy going from striker to defender so well done today Georgia for helping out the team today.

Some nice intricate passing was played but the game went to half time with neither team looking like they were taking control of the game.

Riah took over from Jayde at halftime and shortly after halftime Jayde went on to replace Molly, who was given a rest after putting in some lung busting runs!

The game was very much end to end stuff which kept the supportive crowd entertained.

It needed something special to break the deadlock and Ciara (who only last week scored her first goal for the club, well done) provided it with yet another strong run right down the middle of the pitch beating a couple of Ripon players and planting a shot in the back of the net to make it Scorchers 1 Ripon 0.
So 2 goals in 2 weeks lets hope this goalscoring form continues for her because she deserves it for the way she has been playing recently.

This goal was closely followed by another great run from Molly and a lovely finish into the bottom of the net to put the Scorchers further into the league 2 nil.

The game carried on end to end stuff and Ripon played their part with some good passing and crossing but just couldn't quite get past the Scotton goalkeeper.
So the game ended 2-0 to Scotton.

Another great result for the girls again showing how much of a team they have had to become over this a very difficult season.Great to see both sides playing with a smile and good luck to Ripon in their semi final. On todays form they have a very good chance of making the final, they just need a little more luck.

There was fantastic performances all over the pitch today but Ciara got Girl of the Game today for a fantastic non stop performance and another great goal.

Well done to both sides and thankyou to all again for making the effort to get there today and get another game played. We will finish this season one way or another!!!

Enjoy your Easter eggs everybody and HAPPY EASTER.
