The Tigers were in action against Beckwithshaw, in two close encounters. It was great to start with a slightly different line up, the game starting with Annabel in goal, (her favoured position), Charlotte M in her usual right back role, Anna at left back, Sophie on the right of mid field, Jasmine in the middle, Mia as striker and Niamh on the left. Scorchers started brightly with tremendous pace from Sophie who caused Beckwithshaw problems throughout the game. Mia got in to space well and made some terrific passes linking up well with midfield our defence looked solid and the game settled in to an evenly balanced contest. Elizabeth came on to the right hand side of midfield and added to our attacking play. Alas Beckwithshaw had a better final ball and their strikers scored 2 fine goals to win the first game 2.0.
In the second game we moved things around with Anna going forward on the right and showed she can be a very versatile player. Charlotte made some tremendous runs, but the goals just would not come for the Scorchers. Molly from the Scorchers Lions played some great football (for Beckwithshaw) and we really appreciated her making the numbers up to get the game on. Niamh showed yet again great touches and vision and almost set up a Scorchers goal but a timely tackle saved the day for Beckwithshaw. Annabel came out of goal and really put some effort in defending and tackling. Mia started getting to grip with the Beckwithshaws defenders but it was to no avail as Beckwithshaw triumphed with the only goal. Great games and we look forward to meeting Beckwithshaw next season in the league. Thanks to Vince who refereed the game in atrocious conditions.
