U16s County Cup- Gomersal&Cleckheaton 3 V SCORCHERS 5

Pictures from the match  SLIDESHOW

A combined U15s&16s team played out a superb match against Gomersal today and came out the victors to set up a home match in the next round against Wigton Moor U15s.

Just to point out in the pictures Scotton are playing in BLUE and Gomersal are actually the team in our usual colours of red and black.

The scorchers took a while to get used to all the extra room on such a big pitch and looked a bit out of sorts but Molly took up from where she left off yesterday and screamed a great shot straight over the Gomersal keeper to put the 'blues' in the lead!
Gomersal soon drew level and were showing some great skills all over the park but a goal from Georgie and another from Molly took the scorchers into half time comfortable.

In the second half the girls had to play up the hill and knew Gomersal would put them under immense pressure but the girls stuck to their task and defended for their lives.
After ten minutes of hard work the girls then turned to counter attack and Emily T broke through to put the scorchers 3 goals clear to make the score 4-1.
This led to a long period of good passing and domination from the 'blues' and they all looked like they were thoroughly enjoying themselves and Georgie grabbed her second goal to go 5-1 up and all but put the girls through to the next round.

Gomersal girls had not given up though and rallied for the last ten minutes and scored 2 good goals to make the scoreline more respectable and the game finished 5-3 to the scorchers.

Girl of the game went to Lowenna who played a blinder at the back and looks like she enjoys the game the more tougher is it!

A BIG thankyou to the Gomersal&Cleckheaton players, coaches and parents for making all feel welcome and as a club we wish them well in their respective league.

WELL DONE TO ALL THE SCORCHERS GIRLS, GREAT TEAM EFFORT.
