U16's Final Match. Poppleton Tigers 2 - Scotton Scorchers 2

Pictures from the match: SLIDESHOW
So the U16s season came to an end in a fantastic game against Poppleton Tigers.
This season's squad re-united for the final game, so as the season started the season ended with Poppleton unable to beat Jayde,Hannah,Ellie,Emily B,Becky C,Riah,Ciara,Molly,GT,Becky S & Emily T. Georgie was unable to make the game after being in hospital for surgery on her knee and we all wish her a speedy recovery.
Well the girls were really up for their final game and really took the game to Poppy and a fantastic inswinging corner from Emily T produced the first goal of the game, 1 nil Scorchers.
The girls took this lead into half time and looked comfortable.
There is a reason Poppy have been such a good team all these seasons and it's their desire to keep winning and in the second half they really came back at the Scorchers and a superb strike from them equalised. They always manage to pull out a wonder strike when the Scorchers girls are in town!!
This gave them the momentum and they soon went 2-1 up and the Scorchers dream started to fade but as I've said this season with the girls having to face more barriers week in week out than a 110m hurdler they yet again rose to the challenge and broke out and equalised through a great goal from Molly. 2 All.
With Poppy only needing a draw for the title and Scorchers needing the win Poppy dropped deeper and the Scorchers had to gamble by going to 2 players at the back which created gaps all over but neither side could get the win so Poppy claimed the title but the Scorchers Girls went the whole league season undefeated and for the third season in a row claimed the best defensive record.

Despite not winning the title the girls came off with smiles on their faces and can be rightly proud of themselves. As a coach I could not be any prouder of all the girls I have coached over these past 4 seasons, you have all been a credit to the game, yourselves, your parents and to the club.
Thankyou Ladies for all the smiles and laughs over the years.

The girls last 3 seasons in CYGFL have produced these stats:
Played 38
Goals For 86
Goals Against 28
Not too shabby!!

Myself and Wayne would like to say a big thankyou to all who have helped and supported us over the years and wish all the girls the best whatever they do in their futures whether that still be playing football or other sports or their future careers.
Remember to stay positive no matter what you do and try and do it with a smile!!

THIS IS NOT THE END.....MERELY THE BEGINNING!!
