So first round of the Cup and away at Copmanthorpe where we had already played 2 close games with one win and one defeat.
Scorchers started brightly and took the game to Copmanthorpe, the first goal was a delightful cross from Ella that Caroline pounced on. However Copmanthorpe got a penalty but put it over the bar, they then hit a great cross come shot that came back off the bar. Half Time - Phew! So at half time it was asking the players for more of the same. Alyson in goal was in control throughout, dealing with everything with confidence, Amelia, Anna and Chloe defended solidly and with Abby A tearing forward with pace, Naimh stopping there left winger and breaking up play, Emma setting up chance after chance and tracking back when required, Abby G playing stylish football and Caroline getting on the end of chances the goals starting going in. Another chance and another goal from Caroline set up this time by Abby A. Two more goals from Caroline and the Abby G added 2 more. We swapped things around and Copmanthorpe didnt give up and their determination paid off with a well worked goal. A much closer game than the scoreline suggests, but a great performance Anna got girl of the game steadying midfield and enabling our attacking players to get forward.
CUP - Wetherby 1 Scotton 2
We started with Alyson in goal, Chloe and Amelia in defence with Naihm on the right, Emma, Abby A, Ella and Abby G in midfield, Caroline up front. A cracking start and an early goal from guess who? Caroline of course! and whilst the game was close we seemed to have the edge and a second goal from Abby G took us in at half time 2 nil up. We had strenghtened midfield and defence before the break with Georgia and Anna on and it was a good job too! as wetherby came out and made it a fantastic cup tie getting one goal and pressing for an equaliser. Scotton dug deep and played with determination defending a series of corners then pressing with our own corners, we just couldnt get a third goal and Wetherby couldnt get a second so we squeezed through to the semi final. Great game and a real team performance.

League - Scotton 1 Stamford Bridge 0
With no subs today there was football for all and a close encounter. Alyson in goal, Chloe, Bethan and Amelia in defence with midfield of Ella, Georgia, Abby and Abby or Glen and Alan! with Caroline striker. The Scorchers got their noses in front when Abby G birst through the middle the keeper made a great save (one of many) but the ball came back out, it seemed to take an age for someone to react but it was Caroline who was there first to strike the ball home. We swapped Georgia from the right to the middle and pressed on, Stanford Bridge had chances but Alyson was equal to them and Chloe and Amelia were outstanding at the back. The Scorchers had the ball in the net but the whistle had gone and the goal ruled out. The Girls saw the game out and came off the field shattered. Abby G was girl of the game, read it well and adjusted her game. Next up Cup Semi Final!!!
