Despite the atrocious over night weather the U10s managed to host Ilkley today at Scotton Cricket Club.
There was still quite a strong wind blowing across the pitch but both teams sensibly kept the ball on the ground and played some lovely football in difficult conditions.
Ella Rowell captained the U10s in their first game of the new year but was helpless to prevent Ilkley from opening the scoring with a rocket of a shot into the top corner of Scottons goal.
Ilkley then pushed on whilst Scotton were still trying to find their feet to score another but the girls did pull one back from Abbey Harland to keep things close.
Ilkley were playing really well as a team while Scotton looked great individually but weren't working well as a team which showed as Ilkley went further into the lead but again Abbey scored a consolation goal for the scorchers.
Maybe not the result the girls wanted but plenty of learning points to take from the game which can be discussed next week.
Well played all the girls with some brilliant performances and girl of the game went to Isla Sinfield who had an amazing game in defence and stuck to her task superbly all game.
GO SCORCHERS!!!
