The U12's played their last match of 2009 away at Silsden, a new team to the league this year, and what a performance they put in! 14 goals scored, every player getting a goal and some excellent performances all over the pitch.
The game started on a very cold and damp morning with Scotton showing the form that they have found in the last few weeks and as a result we were able to take early control of the game with goals from Emily, Chloe, Ella and Sam putting us into a healthy position with less than 10 minutes on the clock. Silsden are a new team that have only been together for a few weeks and they struggled to cope with the Scorchers fluent passing, creation of space and superb finishing. However, this was as much as a result of the excellent performance that Scotton put in as some of the quality was exceptional.
In the first half Emily and Ella completed their hat-tricks and Jes, who had a spell as centre forward, got her first goal of the season. Scorchers led 9-1 at half time.
In the second half Chloe replaced Maddie in goal and the Scorchers changed things around to give the girls the chance to play in different positions. Molly played in Midfield and then up front and, once she realised that strikers do not always have to defend their own goal line as well as attack, she started to show some of the skills we have seen in recent weeks and she grabbed her first ever goal in a Scorchers shirt. Steph and Maddie then had a spell up front and they also got in on the act with the result that everyone got at least one goal, Sam getting two.
Ella, who ended with 4 goals and even hit the post from one of her in-swinging corners, was nominated as player of the match by the opposition but the whole team played well.
The 14-1 victory is reflective of the quality that the Scorchers are playing at the moment and we can look forward to a great 2010 if we carry on playing the way that we have in recent weeks.
Well done girls, enjoy your Christmas break and we will see you all back for the return match against Silsden on 9th January.
