U.11's finish year on a high

THe girls finished 2009 on a high as they secured a draw away at league leaders York RI. Not only that but they played nearly all the football and dominated their opponents giving Lizzie a fairly easy time in goal. In fact she was only beaten by an unfortunate deflected own goal midway through the first half. This was cruel on the team as we had created several god opportunities of our own and this was York's first foray into our half.
However we soon bounced back with player of the match Charlotte Mc smashing home a shot from a long throw by Jess. At half time we were well on top and the coach only had to say keep doing what you're doing!
In the second half Vicky and Olivia kept a tight rein on the York attackers while Charlotte cut out pass after pass and sprung us forward. Jess supported Ellie and Saffy up front who tested the York keeper time and again. We had to cope with some late pressure from the League leaders but held out to earn a valuble point. My thanks to Charlotte H and Amelia who were very patient subs and supported the others magnificenty.
The girls all celebrated in the afternoon at the party at Salsa Posada and we toasted our performance. Thanks to Wayne and Andy for organising the do, the girls had a great time!
Enjoy your Christmas girls, well done so far see you for training on Jan 2nd
