The U12's battled superbly today and gained an impressive draw against a very strong and well organised Burley trojans side. In a very fast and bruising encounter it was normal service from Georgia Thompson who opened the scoring but within minutes burley were level.Credit to the girls though they didn't get their heads down and kept pushing for goals mainly thanks to some surging runs from Molly Webster. All the girls were really working hard on a very heavy pitch and the defence of ellie, hannah & georgie R stuck to their guns against some heavy bombardment from the well drilled attack of Burley.Riah was called upon numerous times in goal and did well but unfortunately burley took the advantage going in at halftime 4-3.
In the second half it was just as fast and furious and the duo of emma collier and rebecca corcoran did well in coming off the bench and shoring up the team but despite their efforts some how burley went into a 5-3 lead and it all looked over for the girls. BUT WAIT...
In what was one of the best comebacks in history, the girls threw everything at burley. Rebecca Stockman was flying down the right, georgie ryan on the left,Jayde latimer with some great saves in goal and awesome distribution. The girls camped in the burley trojans half and managed to pull a goal back, BUT there was only minutes left could they really draw level?
Well with Rich Thompson urging the girls on and sucking the ball towards the goal suddenly the attacking force of molly, georgia t and georgia r were on a run and the ball ran loose to georgia ryan who thumped home a well deserved equaliser. 5 all and that was about it.
Molly Webster capped an impressive display with 2 goals and the player of the match award.Georgia thompson bagged 2 goals and georgia ryan 1 goal.
Well done to all the girls against a team that will be pushing for the title this season they should all be suitably proud of themselves today.
Bring on Old Mods next week, COME ON THE SCORCHERS!
A big thankyou must go to Wayne Latimer & EDDIE BROWN TOURS for use of the minibus and running the line, thanks again.
