U14's - Great Game and a Deserved Draw!
The U14's excellent performance was rewarded with a great draw and a clean sheet as they took on Wetherby today. The Scorchers played two matches and earned a draw in the first game and a four nil defeat in the second which didnt really reflect the possession and chances Scorchers created. With so many good performances it was hard to choose a girl of each game. Daisy made some great saves and also some good distribution, receiving credit from the Wetherby coach. In defence Emily was outstanding stepping in to that role because of absences and also had a stint in midfield when Scorchers really took the game to Wetherby but couldnt find the back of the net. Rebecca again covering in defence had a really robust game, taking on their pacy winger and doing well. In midfield Abbie again showed how her game has developed tackling back, clearing the ball and creating attacking opportunities. Shannon worked her socks off and was so unlucky not to score on a number of occasions, the goals will come soon, make no mistake. Melissa lead the attack and had numerous chances but again couldnt quite make any of them count. Kayleigh who got girl of the game in the second game covered every part of the pitch and really drove the team forward. Finally Olivia who received girl of the first game was outstanding in defence and made one particular spectacular run going past three Wetherby players and unlucky not to score. In all a great mornings football, great refereeing and welcome from Wetherby. Coaches are always looking for that first draw, clean sheet, goal and then win, we have two out of four, its Thirsk next lets get the other two!!!
