U11s complete the double over Ripon

A double strike from Emily either side of half time was enough to secure a win which completed the double over Ripon. In contrast to the 10-1 away victory this game was much closer with a narrow 2-1 victory and saw Scotton holding on to their slender lead at the end.

In very windy conditions both sides started off slowly with Ripon showing signs that they were determined to make up for the heavy defeat in the last fixture. Good defensive work from both Georgina and Emma meant that Sam only had one or two saves to make in the opening period in which Ripon played the better football.

Once Scotton started to get in to their rhythm, Maddie and Steph started to pick up the pace in midfield and a few chances were created for Ella and Emily who were playing together up front. However, excellent defending, some great goalkeeping from Ripon, and the goal post, kept the score at 0-0. The highlight of the first half was the quality of the corners taken by Ella and Emily and it was from one of Ella's great in-swingers that Emily managed to finish to go in 1-0 at half time.

Chloe and Molly came on for a second half which saw a much better performance, with more energy and space from Scotton but the goal scoring was again restricted to a fine finish from Emily to make it 2-0.

This seemed to signal a relaxed feel to Scotton and more determination from Ripon who were rewarded with what turned out to be a consolation goal 5 minutes before time. This set up a tense finish when defending by the whole Scotton team was needed at times to ensure that we held on for victory.

Well done girls on another 3 points.
