U14's Scorchers Pride As Panthers Prolific
Ripon City Panthers arrived at the Scorchers with just one narrow defeat this season and as top league goalscorers, so the Scorchers girls knew they were in for a tough game. The Scorchers today showed real character and can be proud of their performance, never giving up and battling for every ball. The result was never in doubt but the girls gave everything with areal team performance sticking together as team. Philipa deputizing in goal made some great saves (Thanks Philippa), Olivia, played the full 70 minutes again and continues to improve her play and fitness. It was great to see Haley back and commanding in defence along side Rebecca who played another great game. In midfield Emily intercepted passes time after time setting up atacks and cleaaring the Scorchers lines, Abbie used her pace to good effect and covered back when required, Rosie was player of the day and caused problems for Panthers every time she had the ball, alongside Missy who got through on goal a number of times but couldnt get that shot away. Finally midfield dynamo Shannon who must cover more ground than any other player fantastic again today giving everything for the team. Ripon played this game with great sporting spirit and their supporters expressed admiration for the Scorchers battling performance too. Thanks to Ewart who expertly refereed the game. Will Panthers do the double this year, time will tell, they have the players, can they edge it against KP United?, we will have to see!
