The U15s triumphed on a very heavy pitch in miserable conditions today against a very talented Thornton Dale side.
On a day when the girls could have easily allowed the elements to beat them they produced a very good performance and dare I say it they looked like they were enjoying themselves by the end!
Jayde started it off from right back in the net with some loud encouragement and kept herself in the game which helped the defensive trio of Hannah, Ellie and Emily who had swapped sides to left back this week showing her versatility.
This allowed Becky S to push up into midfield and showcase her attacking skills and she was more than ably supported by Ciara, Molly & Georgie.
Right at the top of this talented side was the captain of the side GT bringing it all together.
Riah started on the bench and took over the goalkeeping duties in the second half.
At this stage we must mention Becky C who was asked to help out the U14s and I know she would have preffered to be with the U15s but a big thankyou to her for putting the club first and we look forward to seeing her back with the U15s next week where she can continue on with the great work she has put in so far this season.
The girls started a little slow today, maybe allowing the conditions to get to them, this allowed Thornton to really take the game to them and for the first 10 minutes the visitors had the better of the game.Once the girls warmed up though and started to play their passing game this produced a goal from GT to put Scotton 1-0 up.
GT deserved that goal for all the hard work she has got through this season.
Scotton pushed and probed and GT kept working the Thornton keeper but to no avail and then for a 10 minute spell just before half time Scotton switched off and this allowed Thornton to waltz through the middle and smash a shot past Jayde in goal, nothing she could have done to stop that one! 1-1 just before half time.
A quick team talk and a little re-shuffle of players at half time and out came the girls in the second half with renewed energy.
Jayde came out of goal and played on the left hand side of midfield and really linked up well with GT upfront and the girls were really starting purr.
Becky S was starting to overlap On the left and Jayde was cleverly tucking in to cover for her and this work led to Becky S putting the scorchers into the lead 2-1 following great interplay between most of the team.
This visibly lifted the girls and all the players were really putting in great performances all over the pitch from Ciara in the middle doing all the running and tackling to Molly who was back on top form flying down the right wing.
Goal of the game came from another great run and link up play by Becky S who fed GT who in turn scored with great authority and sealed the win 3-1.
WELL PLAYED by all again, Thornton Dale who travelled and really pushed the girls all the way thankyou and hope all enjoy bonfire night and lets hope you have a really 'SCORCHING' night!!!!
