The match started with the girls wearing blue to stop the
confusion with similar strips. Whistle blew @ 10.30 with Georgia and Beccy C
kicking off. Scotton pushed forward from the start and dominated the first 20
minutes. Fantastic communication between Emily, Georgie, Georgia & Hannah
saw the ball pass rapidly towards the Ripon goal with numerous attempts to
score only to be denied by the goalie!
Twenty minutes into the game saw a flurry of corners created
by pressure from Beccy C, Georgia & Georgie but still no goal. Then Ripon
managed to get control only to be stopped in their tracks by the solid
defending of Becky S & Ellie who swiftly passed the ball to Hannah giving either
Georgia or Georgie another shot on goal.
It was then the turn of Jayde to save a good attempt from a
Ripon corner. The Panthers started to get more confident and increase the
pressure. Our girls responded with a brilliant run from Hannah down the right
hand side with a near miss on goal.
Molly came off just before halftime to give Ciara a chance
to make a difference. After another great series of passes and a near miss
Scotton found themselves defending a strong attack from The Panthers.
Unfortunately they succeeded and found a small gap in the bottom corner.
An early goal in the second half was obviously the plan as
Scotton levelled the score within 5
minutes. A great ball from Ellie gave Georgie the break on goal – ‘GET IN’
Rhia took over from Jayde in goal and certainly had more to
do, saving some great attempts. With both teams fighting for control of the
game Molly and Ciara showed determination and skill running with the ball up
field constantly. Emily and Jayde played their parts well feeding the ball to
the attack who tried in vain for the third goal.
The final whistle blew with a even score line of 1-1 (a fair
result)
Player of the match chosen by Ripon was Molly – well done
