U12 Tigers - Match Reports

Scotton V Beckwithshaw
It's been a hectic few weeks for the Tigers squad, who 2 weeks ago took on Beckwithshaw in two terrific friendlies. A great chance to try something different, new positions, new formations and Rebecca to lead the coaching too. The first game was a close encounter, Annabel and Amelia shared goalkeeping duties both keeping a clean sheet, and both had spells playing outfield Amelia in attack and Annabel in midfield, Mia took the captains armband and played on the left of midfield and in attack, showing terrific tackling, passing and movement showing how well she is adapting to matches with the u12's. Alice showed her versatility playing at right back and right midfield, making some great forward runs and making competetive tackles. Niamh played in the centre of midfield defending well when required and getting forward to creat scoring chances for team mates and going close herself. Charlotte M added steel to the team, as dependable as ever as our last line of defence. With Niamh taking a knock and coming off for treatment Emma sent in a wicked cross, which was met brilliantly by Jasmine to crash the ball home and seal the win. 1.0.

In the second game the Belles came out with some determined attacking play, going in at the break 2.1 up and a fantastic game ebbed and flowed, with the Scorchers having to pull out a great performance to pull level, before going on to win the game 4.2, goals from Ella (a terrific hat trick) and a cracker from Emma.

Wetherby v Scotton
Back to league business and it was another close encounter with Wetherby, Amelia in goal, Charlotte M, and Charlotte B in defence, Alice, Ella and Georgia in midfield with Niamh in attack. The game was close with each team cancelling the other out and defenders having the best of the game, neither team could take advantage and an intriguing match was nil, nil at half time. The team were playing well but needed to be more creative, so no changes at half time, lets just be a bit more direct. Ella decided to take that literally and from a corner on the right, swung in a powerful left footed in swinging corner past everyone right in to the roof of the net!!!!
Now the game began to open up, Dumile came on for Niamh up front and the Scorchers continued to play well, solid in defence and looking fairly comfortable, when Ella went on a a dazzling run down the left unleashing an unstoppable shot to make sure of the result. Scorchers 2 wetherby Nil.

The second game was a shorter friendly and again the opportunity was taken to play in different positions, Amelia again going close to scoring, before Wetherby got the goal they deserved winning 1.0.

Scotton V Brooklyn
Third match in a row, but no signs of tiredness here and with Leeds United Captain Clare Sykes cheering the team on, the girls 'came alive at kick off' taking the game to a well organised Brooklyn side. Amelia didnt put a foot wrong, with great distribution setting the team on wave after wave of attack. Charlotte M, won a really competetive battle with the Brooklyns striker and Charlotte B played a support and covering role ensuring she was always there. When Brooklyn threw players forward Georgia joined the defence winning the ball and passing with great confidence, Emma ran and ran but also passed and moved linking really well with Dumile and Ella. Despite great defending Brooklyn found themselves 2.0 down at the break, but come the second half they kept on battling didnt let their heads go down making sure the Scorchers had to wait along time for their 3rd and decisive goal, before in the final minutes Alice and Jasmine came in to the action and the Scorchers scored their fourth and final goal, beating Brooklyns outstanding keeper. Dumile and Emma got joint girls of the game, for great linking play and 2 goals for Emma nad 1 for Dumile with Ella also on the scoresheet.
Coach Rebecca expressed her delight after the recent games, praising the girls for taking training and practiced set pieces, set moves and skills in to games delivering the results the girls have worked so hard to achieve. Communication? Brilliant!!!!
