The U10s travelled to Brayton hoping to get back on winning
trail after being edged out by Scarborough in their last outing.
In blustery
conditions Scotton competed right across the pitch in an evenly balanced first
half.
Katie came in to
support Anya at the back and covered a lot of ground and made some important
tackles to deny Braytons forwards.
Up front Ellie Mc looked dangerous and lively by making a
number of good runs both with and without the ball to create space for the
midfield of Bella, Emily and Danielle to push on. Ellie Mc s good work led to
our best effort of the half which fell to Emily who hit a cracking shot that just flew over the
bar
The game continued to ebb and flow during a highly
competitive first half with Anya and Katie having to work hard to keep deny
Brayton scoring opportunities.
On a couple of occasions where Brayton managed to get shots away on target Grace made a
number of fine stops to keep the scores level.
At half time Katie and Anya made way for Ellie L and Alice
to form a new defensive partnership. Again
both sides had periods of dominating the game
and chances fell to both sides without either converting. Across the middle the hardworking midfield of
Danielle
Emily and Bella continued to pressure the Brayton midfield and as a
result the ball fell to Emily who advanced
to the edge of the box and unleashed a
fine shot passed the Brayton keeper to put Scotton 1-0.
The game continued to be an evenly balanced affair and Grace
was once again called to make a couple of good saves to keep the lead intact
and see out the remainder of the game to finish 0-1 victors.
In the 2ND
game Danielle went into goal for the first half and we changed it around with
Alicia coming on. The second game continued in the same tight manner as the first
with both teams enjoying good spells of possession. In the second half Alice picked up the
keepers duties with Emily making way for Ellie Mc to come back on. Unfortunately
we conceded in the 2nd half and Brayton managed to hang on the win 1-0.
In both games the girls worked extremely hard and it is
clear that all in the squad continue to
improve and are putting into practice many of the drills from training. They
all should be proud of both their effort and performance.
Grace was awarded man of the match for a number of fine
saves to keep a clean sheet.
