U15s SCORCHERS 6 v 1 Brompton

Pictures from the match Slideshow

A great result for the girls today against an unfortunately weakened Brompton side.
Brompton turned up a player down but Scotton who were behind them in the league before the start of the game made the difficult decision of playing with a full strength side to allow themselves chance of a result.
WELL PLAYED to all the Brompton ladies who kept going and stuck at the game today, they were credit to themselves and their club and despite this result I fully expect them to bounce back better and stronger.
Also well played to the Scotton ladies who at the end of the day still have to play whats in front of them, they did this very well and utilised the space and played the ball around very well and eventually wore out the Brompton side on what is probably one of the leagues larger pitches.

Riah,Hannah,Ellie & Becky S took up the defensive duties today and held their concentration for nearly the whole match with perhaps only one slip up for their goal (or maybe it was the referee's fault some might say!).
Ciara & Becky C marshalled the centre of midfield more than competently, as is now expected of this awesome duo, whilst Molly,GT & Captain Georgie provided the flair today.
Emily and Jayde started on the sideline for the team but more than did their bit when they came on and also provided much support from the touchline.
In the goalless first half both sides were sounding each other out and chances came and went for both sides, coach Wayne gave the girls a pep talk at half time and told them just to keep doing what they were doing and the goals would come.

Emily replaced the impressive Ciara in midfield and showed her versatility by getting in plenty of tackles and was extremely unlucky with a rasper of a shot from distance which produced a great save from the Brompton keeper (and produced gasps from the crowd!)
Jayde also came on in the second half and produced her now usual intelligent passing and moving and capped off a great game with a well deserved goal.

At the start of the second half the scorchers pushed for the opening goal in hope of opening up a gap between them and their oppostion and deservedly went ahead with  a great strike.
This should have been the beginning of the end for Brompton but again they dug deep and rallied and with one such attack, with the Scorchers girls appealing for the ball out of play, they got a great strike on goal and beat the scorchers keeper. 1-1

This instead of getting the scorchers heads down actually rallied the girls and they then went on to play some fantastic football and ultimately tiring out the gallant Brompton side and some beautiful crosses and volleys produced some great goals to produce a final score of 6-1 to the scorchers.

Goal scorers today were GT with 2, GR 2, MW 1 and JL 1.
Molly won girl of the game with her back to her best flying display.

As ever credit must go to the players of both sides for producing a good game of football played in the right spirit and I must say a big thankyou to both set of supporters for all the positive encouragement for both sides. Sometimes it can be too easy to have a go at players and officials but today it was great to hear nothing but support.

WELL DONE TO ALL!
