The U15s beat a patched up and gallant Stamford Bridge side 2 nil today on a magnificent pitch which allowed the girls to play there now famous passing game.
In the first half the girls had to withstand some intense pressure from a very attacking Stamford Bridge who attacked very quickly and in numbers and really pushed the girls to the limit.
Stamford must be applauded for their cavalier approach to the game which has brought them plenty of goals this season and has made them great to watch but also it must be said well played to our girls in defence for withstanding the first half barrage. So great work from Hannah,Ellie,Becky and Jayde kept out the rampant Stamford team.(Lets not forget Emily who was away this weekend and this shows you the great defensive players we have in this team)
Once the girls got to grips with the game they started to turn defence into attack through the midfield of Becky C (Welcome Back),Ciara,Molly & Georgie who all worked superbly with GT to create a number of good chances.
The Stamford keeper played well to keep out a number of the girls shots but she was unable to keep out 2 great strikes, one a piece, from GT and girl of the game Georgie to take the girls into half time 2nil up.
In the second half Riah took over from Jayde and Jayde pushed up on the left to carry on where she left off last week with some superb link up play with Becky S, this allowed Georgie to display her skills across the whole of midfield.
The girls really started to play some great football in the second half and all played their part and took turns playing in various positions and showed their versatility which will be required this season, their passing and movement was as good as a recent Blackpool side playing Leeds United where they won 5-0 (sorry for this mention Leeds Fans!) unfortunately it did not result in anymore goals but all who watched the game commented on the high standard and style which the girls played with.
FINAL RESULT 2-0
Well played again to 2 great sides as ever played in a superb spirit which has been a feature of the CYGFL this season.
Here's looking forward to a great match against table topping Brompton next week, keep going Ladies and BELIEVE!
