The U12 Tigers took to the field in bright sunshine as the mist lifted contrasting last weeks atrocious weather.
Annabel in goal made some terrific saves, diving low and to the left on one occasion pushing the ball on to the post and away. In defence Charlotte and Charlotte we terrific, determined and blocked the path of every Panthers attack, midfield was quickly changed to counter Panthers attacking play and unleash our attack, this resulted in Ella beating the left back and blasting the ball on to the Panthers post and away. Emma worked hard on the right and tracked back every time with her opposite number, Niamh had half chances and got in some graet positions, just unable to beat the final defender. Georgia popped up time and time again stifling play and setting Emma and Ella free to attack. A finely balanced half looked like concluding at ni nil, then with 50 seconds left a well taken Panthers corner was forced home. Half time 1.0
Just like last week the girls had played well but found themselves behind, so no changes just a determination to get back in the game. Again an evenly balanced game and the next goal seemed key, mid way through the half with the elusive equaliser hard to find Dumile came on for Niamh and immediately joined up well with Ella to create a good chance. However chances were becoming harder to find, as the Panthers were solid in defence and pressed forward when they could. In a goal mouth scramble the Scorchers unfortunately knocked the ball in to the net to make it 2.0. The girls kept going but could not find a way back in the remaining 3 or 4 minutes.
A great game final score Panthers 2. Tigers 0
In the friendly, we brought on Alice in defence, Annabel in goal, Jasmine as a striker and played a fun 9 aside game, again the game was finely balanced, our newer and less experienced players got some vailuable practice of match conditions, Annabel looking like a natural in goal, and Jasmine showing early signs of a strikers instinct for goal. Alice provided experience in defence alongside Georgia. The Panthers edged this game too, but everyone enjoyed a great mornings football. And when defeated, there is always the next game. Well done everyone and thanks to the Panthers referees for the games.
Next week sees us at home playing a friendly 9.30 kick off.
