Scorchers u12 girls played this match in pouring rain and a credut to everyone for keeping going in awful conditions. Annabel in goal put in a great performance, supported by Anna at left back and Charlotte M on the right, distribution was fantastic getting the ball forward and setting up the Scorchers attack, Annabel made key saves, with the defence keeping the Panthers at bay. Anna played with assurance, tackled well and made some great passes too. In midfield Georgia played a holding role covering the defence and assisting in attack, alongside Charlotte and Emma who both created chances from the wings, with Ella the lone striker, hitting her best effort over the bar.
With the team playing well it was a close affair with chances being created at both ends, but the Panthers who finished the half 2 goals up, communication letting the girls down for the second when the ball could have been cleared.
The half time talk saw Niamh come on as stiker and the team we are asked to keep doing the same things, the girls took to the field with a steely determination and their efforts were rewarded when some neat passing on the edge of the box involving Niamh and Ella saw Emma smash home a great strike from the right in to the left hand corner. Scorchers found new energy and played some terrific football, enabling Ella to strike with her trade mark left foot 2 all and a great come back, but could the girls win it?! the Panthers dug deep and came back in to the game, as the clock ticked down they forced a series of corners, as the Scorchers hung on, and then Charlotte M, picked the ball up at right back beat Panthers midfield, defence and then hit the ball past the keeper........ and pat the left hand post as the final whistle blew. What a great game. Well done girls and thanks to Vince our referee. Final Score 2.2
In a short friendly (due to the conditions) Amelia went in goal, Mia in midfield, Annadel in the middle of mid field and Jasmine as striker. Amelia was solid in goal, Mia passed well and joined up well with the attack, and Jasmine almost scored on her debut, the Panthers keeper making a fine save. This experimental line up played some terrific football, but in the end Panthers edged the game 1.0.
