The lions final league game saw them host Copmanthorpe and with the other
contenders Poppleton drawing with Fulford, only a draw was required to clinch
the title.
Although it was a home game, the match was played on an unfamiliar pitch at
Percy Field and the different size seemed to put the Scotton girls off their
stride as the game was compressed in the final third.
The first 10 minutes saw Copmanthorpe come under real pressure but they defended
well and on a few occasions managed to counter attack down the Scotton left
flank.
Finally after a neat move that involved Jasmine, Ellie and ricochet from a
Copmanthorpe defender had the ball falling at the feet of Ebony and a cool
finish settled everyone's nerves. The game was fairly tight until midway
through the second half when Ebony once again pounced onto a threw ball and
slotted home and the celebrations began!
