A mid week clash between our U15’s and local rivals
Knaresborough Celtic got off to flying start despite the poor weather
conditions. Georgia T had two early tries on goal being fed the ball by Becky S
on the second occasion but the Celtic keeper was too good for her. Then it was
the turn of Molly who again had a number of early chances with Georgie R taking
two excellent corners. The Celtic girls then took control and create a
couple of corners at the other end but still no luck! 15 minutes into the first
half and Emily came off to give Rhia a turn in defence with Becky S and Molly
swapping over on the wings. Only 5 minutes later GT made a run with the ball
resulting in a fantastic goal. Followed by a great kick from Georgie R which
just skimmed the top of the cross bar. With 10 minutes to go in the first half
Beccy C came on to give Ciara a rest. The score remaining 1-0 to Scotton as the
half time whistle was blown.
After only a short break due the rain getting steadily worse
the second half started with both teams firing on all cylinders. Celtic
creating two corners but Rhia (replacing Jade) in goal stood her ground. This
was followed by a great chip shot on the celtic goal by GT which the Celtic
keeper managed to save. Emily Topham and Jade were then brought on to replace
Molly and Georgie R in attack. Still the score remained the same until Becky S
created two chances with the second being successful 2-0!!! Still Celtic kept
putting the pressure on until they had an ideal opportunity with a free kick.
Unfortunately for them Rhia was in fine form and made another great save.
Shortly after it was the turn of GT to make another run up the other end resulting
in her second goal and bringing the score to 3-0
Emily Topham then had a try on goal but just missed. With
only 15 minutes to go the girls fed the ball to GT giving her the chance to
slip it past the Celtic keeper and give her a well deserved hat-trick
With the score 4-0 to Scotton and only 10 minutes to go the
Celtic girls were determined to score and kept our girls on their toes with
various runs on goal. Emily T in response kept up the pressure and fed the ball
to GT with the shot going wide followed by another attempt by Emily again just
wide!
A few minutes to go and the efforts of Celtic paid off with
Natalie taking a well deserved goal. Well done to both teams in very damp
conditions
