Some of the Scorchers
U11 and Development squads met Leeds United Ladies Captain Clare Sykes and
presented her with a cheque for £250 to sponsor her for the 2012/13 season. This is the 6th year that the Scorchers have sponsored a Leeds United Ladies
player as part of Leeds United Ladies Community Club link (Scorchers being the
first ever club to create the partnership). In return the Scorchers receive
visits from players, a shirt signed by the whole Leeds Team, 20 free child
tickets for every home game (adults are only a fiver) and also for our players
the opportunity to lead the Leeds United Ladies out on a match day. So check
out the Leeds United Ladies web site and get yourself along to a game, just
wear your Scorchers shirt or Jacket to get in free!!!! Also look out for a club
organised trip coming up.
Clare met up with the U13/14 players at half time as they took on a combined Hambleton Schools team. This followed the U16's game and the combined U13/U14 played a very good Hambleton select 11. This was the first time that these two squads had combined and the first time that many of the u13's had played 11-a-side on a full pitch. The 6-0 loss was well deserved by the excellent Hambleton girls but the Scotton girls put in a great performance and were unlucky not to get on the score sheet themselves.
