U13's Battling Performance V Skipton

The U13's squeezed in an extra match against Skipton Girls who arrived in style in several mini buses, with squads at U9, U11 and U13. The sun shone and a great mornings football was enjoyed by all.

The first game saw a close game with some great play by both teams, with Georgia in goal, Chloe and Charlotte M in defence, Alex and Katherine in midfield and Emma up front. The Scorchers took the lead with a well worked move that put Emma through with the keeper to beat slotting the ball home with calm precision.  Charlotte B came on along with Niamh and the Scorchers played some terrific stuff. Niamh had some good chances and set up players too, with great vision, Alex in a well worked move hit the ball on the half volley unfortunately going over the bar. Skipton began to impose themselves and the game finished 1.1.

In the second game we moved the players around, with Kathryn in goal, Charlotte B and Charlotte M in defence, Emma and Ella in midfield and Abby as striker. Another great game played in great spirit, Abby with high energy levels got a great goal as the Scorchers pressed, and midfield provided the ammunition. Ella was tracking back cutting out the Skipton attacks, and in a complete accident fell and twisted her right leg as she fell, it was clear straight away that she was hurt but bravely stayed calm whilst she was helped from the field and later confirmed at Hospital as ligament strain. (See picture below!) Everyone from both teams send their best wishes for a speedy recovery.

In the remaining minutes Skipton pulled ahead with the game finishing 2.1

Final game and more rotation as the girls all got time on the pitch, Charlotte M in goal, defence Chloe and Kathryn, Georgia in midfield with Emma and up front Abby. With the many changes keeping shape and concentration (not just the players!) was a problem and Skipton pushed forward taking 2 goals well and out numbering our defence. But the girls battled back with Abby getting her second of the day.

A useful work out ahead of 2 league matches before we play the return at Skipton all being well at 9 aside.

Thanks to the Skipton girls who played without subs and referee Vince who kept us all in order!!!

Ella's still smiling!!!!
