U14 Girls - Matches Coming Thick and Fast!!!!!

Ripon City Panthers v Scotton U14
The Scorchers were off to a flying start with chances galore and Caroline opening her account for the season prodding the ball home with the keeper beaten. But it soon became clear that the Panthers were no push over! and started getting a grip on the game. The pressure lead to a penalty and Katherine pulled off a tremendous save. Half time 1. nil and all to play for! the scond half Scorchers made changes with a full squad to choose from they bolstered the midfield and planned to counter attack, however Ripon stepped up a gear and despite a good all round team performance and terrific saves from Katherine and Georgia (tipping one shot spectacularly over the bar), it wasnt our day as Ripon scored 3. The Scorchers hit the post which may have changed the game again, but it wasnt to be. Girl of the game Katherine for an outstanding performance in goal. Special mention to Abi G and Alyson making their debut's for the Scorchers, well done girls. Captain Emma.

Wetherby v Scotton U14
So straight on to Wetherby and another very close game, the Scorchers went 1 nil up, then 1.1, then at half time 2.1 to the Scorchers. The second half started and Wetherby were back to 2 all, and the Scorchers had to dig deep. Two quick goals from the Scorchers ended the Wetherby challenge and then as subs were about to be made the Scorchers hit a 5th. Abi came on and used terrific pace and strength to make it 6. Captain Ella.

This was a close game with Chloe outstanding and girl of the game, and a special mention for Caroline who put 5 in the net in a truly outstanding performance, well done to all the girls.

K Celtic v Scotton Scorchers U14
Away again and this time a derby match!

With a small squad the girls were prepared to dig in and battle for the result today. They started well going 1 up, only for Celtic to equalise. However Ella capitalised on a mistake and and scored her first of the season, stroking the ball home from the left. So half time and 2.1. the Scorchers started brightly and looked to extend their lead, half a yard extra and Ella would have scored 3 or 4! BUT again the opponents drew back level and the game was set up for a grandstand finish, Caroline hit the post, and as the game looked like being a draw, Celtic hit the winner. There was still time for one last Scorchers attack but the goal wouldnt come. Another great game. Player of the day went to Alyson who worked tirelessly for the team, creating chances and stopping opponents play. But today was also a team effort, with no subs and 2 not fully fit the girls can be proud of their performance.

Next up it's Copmanthorpe at home Percy Field kick off 10.30am - see you there!!!
