SCORCHERS V ILKLEY

Finally the U10s played an away game when they travelled to Ilkley on a beautiful  bright crisp saturday morning.
As indeed the weather was in complete contrast to the last time these two sides met the Scorchers girls were too.
In fact so much that they scored almost from kick off which caught the coach off guard!!!
Grace grabbing her first goal for the scorchers, well done Grace.
The morning then got better as Abbey doubled the scorchers lead to put the girls 2 up.
Ilkley are a very good side though and they were never going to just roll over and sure enough they came back themselves and scored 2 great goals themselves to make the score all level going into halftime.

In the second half the girls were working really hard and passing the ball well but unfortunately couldn't finish off their chances which proved to be decisive as Ilkley scored a few more to get the win.
A fantastic game all round with every single Scorchers player playing their part and really impressing the watching parents.
Megan Walker was captain fantastic today and really led her team well but girl of the game went to Ella Rowell for a fantastic all round display. She got down the wing superbly and sent many a great cross in to the box but was also quick to spot the danger and cover up when Ilkley went on the counter attack.
So to sum things up, not the match result the girls might have wanted but huge improvement from every girl today and great to see the team spirit building week on week.

After the 'league' game the girls played a friendly in which Eleanor more than held her own against girls much bigger and older than her and worked really well with the U10s.
See the pics above for some action (but grainy) shots from the friendly game.

WELL PLAYED BOTH TEAMS.

GO SCORCHERS!
