U15s 2 V Scarboro Ladies 2

For pictures of the match click Slideshow.

In an extremely hard fought contest today the U15s drew with a very combatitive Scarborough team 2-2.
Todays team looked a little weary with many of the team suffering from illness in the week and unfortunately Emily Bulled wasn't well enough to make the game today and I know she will be upset as she has been really enjoying herself this season and we hope to see her back next week.

Ellie captained the side and lined up with Hannah and Becky S and Jayde just behind in goal, acros the midfield we had Georgie, Ciara, Georgia and Molly (Becky C would have started but for an unfortunate mix up with boots!!)and Emily T stepped up from the U14s to lead the line for us from the off (Thankyou today Emily).
On the bench was an under the weather Riah and a boot awaiting Becky C.

From the kick off the girls looked a little sheepish and not their usual selves but after about 20mins they started to get into their stride and really threaten the 'boro' goal.
GT as ever was doing tremendous amounts of work upfront but for some reason the girls decided to abandon their passing game and instead 'lump' the ball up and over GT, therefore they weren't really creating as many chances as they would like.
Some greawork Scorchers forced a corner and dead ball specialist Georgie somehow scored direct from it leaving most of the ground stunned into silence and bemusement as to how she managed it!!! Great goal Georgie.
That was how the girls went in at half time: 1-0.
In the second half Riah replaced Jayde in goal and Jayde went out on the wing and popped up with a lovely finish to put the girls into a comfortable 2-0 lead.
Unfortunately the girls seemed to tire slightly and allowed their concentration to drop and 'boro' mounted a few attacks on their goal.
Thus allowing 'boro' to cross in 2 great corners which the scorchers girls failed to deal with and the scarboro ladies went home very happy with a point gained at 'FORTRESS PERCY FIELDS!'
Girl of the game today was Ciara who stood her ground all day and didn't allow herself to be intimidated and put in many great challenges today.Well done Ciara.

I would like to say how very impressed I have been with Ciara and Becky C's contribution's in midfield this season, please both of you keep up the great work.

So all in all another great game of football between two great teams played in a very combatitive manner but also in a very sporting manner, thankyou to Scarboro for the game and maybe today's learning point could have been if we're not brave enough to head it then we're always going to struggle!

Don't worry ladies though, still undefeated and all to play for, KEEP IT GOING SCORCHERS LADIES!!
