SCORCHERS V Celtic U10s

The U10s played their near neighbours Knaresborough Celtic in a gripping match on a lovely flat pitch in fine weather this saturday morning.
Both teams showed how far they have come this season with some amazing football.
The match was played in a lovely competitive but friendly atmosphere and all the spectators supported both sides and encouraged all the girls which is great to see and hear.

Both teams defended doggedly which kept the score down and Knaresborough's defence was rock solid all morning and their goalkeeper had an amazing game between the posts with some superb diving saves and some brave diving at the feet of onrushing scotton forwards, well played!

It had to be a special strike which would beat the Celtic goalie and it certainly was, Ella R rifling a shot in to the top corner, nothing anyone could do about that!
Olivia grabbed a second goal for the scorchers which was just reward for some brilliant forward play.
Scotton didn't have it all their own way at all and Celtic deservedly scored a goal to keep the game close going into half time.

The second half produced much of the same with both teams defending resolutely and counter attacking with skill and guile but there was only to be one more goal scored by Ella R again.

So yet another great game of football played by both set of girls and what a show for all the watching parents and coaches, well played everyone.

Girl of the game for Scotton was Olivia who has shown how good she can be when she wants to be! Well done Olivia.

                                                            GO SCORCHERS!!!!
